Farm in a Box Q&A
Q How much do you get in the Classic and Small boxes?
A The Classic box provides enough for a family, approximately 25 lbs of delicious fruits and veggies. The small box is best for a couple or a single person who likes to cook, approximately 12 lbs in the box.
Q What is the difference in the sizes for the Business Bounty box?
A The large box is enough for approximately 20-30 snackers and the Small will feed about 10-15.
Q What is the difference between a traditional CSA and Farm in a box?
A A traditional CSA usually offers only what the farmer grows on his own farm. Farm in a box is different because we will provide you with the best of what we grow ourselves, plus what we can get from other local farmers, and even specialty fruits and veggies from the Amish and other farms in the U.S. It is great because you can enjoy things like berries and pluots
(which we do not grow) and various other produce in your box that might not be available through another CSA.
Q Can we choose what will be in the box?
A Each week we will choose what to put in your box depending on what we are harvesting and what is available locally and at the markets. Unfortunately that is up to us, but be assured that we will provide you with the best quality and a great selection of fruits and veggies! We will also include recipes for what is in the box each week to inspire you to use everything you get and create new meals and family favorites!
Q What if I am away one week, what do I do with my box?
A Well, you have two options: You can share it with a friend that week and let them enjoy your box while you are away. Or, you can notify us 48 hours in advance and we will double your box the week you return!
Q Can I upgrade my box if what we are getting is not enough?
A Absolutely! Just let us know if you need the bigger, Classic box!
Q Can I exchange something that is in my box for something else?
A If you are a pick-up customer, then YES! We will have a Sharing Table located at the stand every week at pick-up. If you have something in your box for that week that you might not want or if you really like a certain fruit that is in the box and want more, you can make an equal swap at the sharing table! Sorry, but deliveries do not apply.
Q Can I pick up my box at any of the Andersen Farms locations?
A No, we are only allowing pick up at our Rt. 15 Sparta stand. Pick up days will be: Thursdays from 12:00—6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00—6:00 p.m. ONLY.
Q Can I change my delivery day?
A No, we will only be delivering on Thursdays. Please be very specific as to where we should leave your box. We guarantee your box will be fresh and perfect upon delivery, once it leaves our truck and it is delivered to your designated drop off spot it will then be your responsibility! Please make sure you make arrangements to ensure its quality!
Q What kinds of fruits and veggies can I expect in my box?
A Of course everything is to be determined, but you can expect, depending on its growing season: lettuce, sweet corn, tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, broccoli, peppers, potatoes, garlic, onions, shallots, peas, beans, carrots, radishes, beets, peaches, apples, plums, strawberries, blueberries, pears, apricots, pluots, grapes, herbs... I know I am forgetting many things but this should give you an idea!
Q What are ADD ONS?
A ADD ONS include: Amish butter, jar goods like salsa, glass bottled milk, eggs, pies, granola, honey, etc. Anything else that we sell, excluding plants, that you might want to add to your box! Just give us a call and let us know if you would like to include any ADD ONS and we will give you more information.
